Colombia Carambolo

The Farm (La Finca)

This coffee has been processed by the Las Flores farm. Founded in 1990 by Edilberto and Nuria from the Cundinamarca region of Colombia, in later years the farm was remodelled and is now dedicated exclusively to the production of specialty coffees. Las Flores is currently managed by Jhoan Vergara and his brother Diego, and the finca is known for its application of scientific and technological techniques to achieve high-quality standards.
In recent years, Jhoan made the decision to partner with El Diviso, a finca with over 25 years history of coffee production, and also a family farm. They created a joint company called El Diviso, bringing together their farms and family traditions. On the Las Flores side, we have Jhoan Vergara, and on the El Diviso side, we have Néstor and Adrián Lasso—an association keenly looking towards the future and implementing all of its shared knowledge to improve the quality of its farms.
They have recently begun working with regional batches, processing cherries from their neighbours, and the El Carambolo lot serves as an example.

Origen

Huila is a province in southwestern Colombia. Located between the central and eastern mountain ranges, the
Magdalena River winds through the entire region. Huila is also home to Colombia’s second highest peak: the Nevado del Huila volcano. With year-round average temperature of 18° C and fertile soil containing a variety of rich mineral resources, Huila boasts a vibrant agricultural industry. Descendants of indigenous groups (Pieces, Halcones and Pijaos) continue to inhabit their places of origin in this region, living in specific protected areas and other small communities.
